On Financial Stewardship

Dear Believer, God is worthy of your finances.

Dear Triumpher,

Have you ever stopped to think about the way we came into the world? Of course, we came as babies — naked, vulnerable, empty-handed — without any possession or property to call our own. Over time, we received, attained, and established things but what should be the believer’s posture relating to these things we have on Earth now?

Let’s explore this, shall we?

The earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

Psalm 24:1 KJV

As believers, we must go about life with a consciousness of the sovereignty and ownership of God as the Creator of all we can imagine which includes our possessions. Even as man has dominion and the ability to attain, create, and achieve so much, God is still the ultimate Creator of all that exists and we must come to the full understanding of this fact.

And the comprehension of this fact should lead to a posture of stewardship. Now that we know that God is the true owner of all creation, we must be ready to prioritize His will for our resources and worship Him in our finances — surrendering all that we have received from Him for His glory here on Earth (1 Timothy 6:17-18).

Matthew 25:14-30 (the parable of the talents ) shows that we will give an account of all God has entrusted to us.

But knowing this doesn’t automatically cause our selfish and natural desires in the flesh to go away. We are the ones to bring ourselves to a point of total surrender and love to God, teaching our hearts and minds to prioritize God above all else; bringing our thoughts, words, actions, and desires to reflect an unmistakable love for God in every area of our lives.

This love and surrender can also be seen in how we spend our resources. Honoring God through financial stewardship means making choices that align with His will and reflect our faith. This involves rejecting greed, practicing generosity, and being prudent with the resources God has entrusted to us (Proverbs 21:20).

But we must be careful that our financial stewardship is acceptable to God. God sees beyond the physical. He looks at the heart and places that above whatever we may do. Giving is an act of worship, and worship must be done with a sincere, delightful heart, which is what God values. So, dear believer, examine your motives to make sure they honor the Lord in all areas.

Triumpher, honor the Lord with all He has given you knowing fully that all we have, we have received from the Lord.

Cheering you on,

Tim✌️
