If Love were a Person

Is His Love Really Unconditional?

Hi Triumpher,

Question for you: Have you ever loved someone enough to die for them? No? But think about it. If you were asked to lay down your life for the people you love the most, would you do it?

If love were a person, would it look like you? I hope so! Well, one person who embodies the word so well, as shown through Scripture, is Jesus.

John 3:16 NKJV is quite a popular verse, but when you meditate on it, you see the depth of love God has for us, that He had to send His only Son to die in our stead, so we can have eternal life.

It is unconditional because we didn’t need to do anything to earn it. He saved us before we even knew we needed saving; and if we are made in His image and likeness, and have His nature, it is also possible to love people unconditionally seeing that He first loved us that way.

One way to recognize someone's love is when they connect you with opportunities—whether the Gospel came to you as a sermon, through a conversation, or even from a family member—even if you hadn't realized it at the time, these acts are expressions of love. As Christians, sharing the Gospel is more than just an obligation—it is a heartfelt demonstration of love toward both the One who sent us and the receiver of the message (2 Corinthians 5:20 NKJV).

It takes immense love, to leave the ninety-nine, in search of one as a Shepherd (Luke 15:4-7 NKJV). If you were the only one on earth, Jesus would still lay down His life for you, that says a lot about the kind of Love we’ve received. You can never thank Him enough, so bless the name of the Lord at all times for this gift of life, because He has also blessed us with every spiritual blessing in Christ (Ephesians 1:3 NKJV).

Now that you know how much God loves you and everyone else around you, even if they might not know it, don’t you think it’s a good idea to talk about it? It is!

Go! Tell it on the mountains, in the valleys, and everywhere else about the greatest love story—the story of Jesus laying down His life so that the whole world can be saved.

It’s not enough to know about it and not share it, God is not a secret to be kept, be loud about it, every person deserves to experience the love of Christ, and it is our responsibility to share that gift with the world.

Back to my question: You don’t need to die for the people you love because Jesus already did. One way to show love, however, is by telling them about what Jesus did for them, why He did it, and the result of His actions.

Let the people around you know that eternal life has been made available to them through Jesus.

God is trusting you to do this!

I’ll be cheering you on as you do!

Tim.
